00:00:00 --> 00:00:05 Welcome to Your Morning Boost, your daily leadership advice to help you lead your school community.
00:00:05 --> 00:00:09 Brought to you by AWB Education and sponsored by Grundmeyer Leader Services,
00:00:10 --> 00:00:14 where together we are transforming education, one leader at a time.
00:00:14 --> 00:00:18 Now here's your host, Adam Bush. Good morning, Morning Boosters.
00:00:18 --> 00:00:20 Welcome back. Happy Tuesday.
00:00:20 --> 00:00:23 Thanks for joining us again today. If you have a moment and could take some
00:00:23 --> 00:00:27 time to give us a rating or review or a follow on whatever platform you're listening
00:00:27 --> 00:00:28 to, we would really appreciate it.
00:00:29 --> 00:00:30 It would help us keep this mission
00:00:30 --> 00:00:33 going and help us be able to get our message out to even more people.
00:00:33 --> 00:00:37 If you remember this week, we're going to talk all this week about the hiring
00:00:37 --> 00:00:41 process and trying to make sure that we are hiring the right people to join our team.
00:00:42 --> 00:00:46 Today's episode, we're going to discuss the art of advertising your open positions
00:00:46 --> 00:00:47 to reach the right candidates.
00:00:48 --> 00:00:51 Sometimes we don't think about this one. We just kind of throw it out there
00:00:51 --> 00:00:53 on whatever we're required to throw it out there on.
00:00:53 --> 00:00:58 But really getting to the right people that's going to attract the right candidates
00:00:58 --> 00:01:01 And this is something that we need to make sure we put a little effort into
00:01:01 --> 00:01:05 so choose the right platforms Think about a variety of channels.
00:01:05 --> 00:01:08 It could be your school website job boards social media,
00:01:08 --> 00:01:12 you know professional organizations We want to reach a diverse pool of applicants
00:01:12 --> 00:01:16 to ensure that we get the right person Lots of these they'll help us push out
00:01:16 --> 00:01:20 the details and they probably even have some AI tools built to help I've used
00:01:20 --> 00:01:22 a variety of social media platforms before.
00:01:22 --> 00:01:26 They have AI tools that help boost that message out to your candidates and help
00:01:26 --> 00:01:27 really attract the right people.
00:01:28 --> 00:01:32 I know a lot of states, you do have like an educational platform for job postings.
00:01:32 --> 00:01:35 And of course, you're going to post it there. You may be required to.
00:01:35 --> 00:01:37 We certainly are in the state that I live in.
00:01:37 --> 00:01:41 But it may only retract those that are actively seeking employment.
00:01:41 --> 00:01:45 Sometimes your best candidate may be the one that didn't know they should even
00:01:45 --> 00:01:48 look at a change until they saw how attractive your position is.
00:01:48 --> 00:01:52 Keep that in mind. Don't just go to where the people looking for a job are going
00:01:52 --> 00:01:53 to be seeing your position.
00:01:54 --> 00:01:57 I want to go make sure everybody understands why they might want to come work for us.
00:01:58 --> 00:02:01 Now, when you get to the job posting itself, make sure you spend some time on
00:02:01 --> 00:02:04 that. Create a compelling job posting. Don't just put out that you have a job open.
00:02:05 --> 00:02:08 Try to use some eye-catching headlines, some persuasive language,
00:02:08 --> 00:02:12 and even some relevant keywords to make your job listing stand out amongst the
00:02:12 --> 00:02:15 other jobs that are going to be out there. Highlight your school's benefits.
00:02:15 --> 00:02:20 Not just the salary and the benefits package, but emphasize the unique opportunities,
00:02:20 --> 00:02:22 experiences your school offers.
00:02:23 --> 00:02:25 What do you have for professional development? What are there for mentorship
00:02:25 --> 00:02:28 programs? What does the community look like? Is it supportive?
00:02:28 --> 00:02:32 Supportive within the building and the other opportunities within the community
00:02:32 --> 00:02:35 itself. After that, think about how you're going to track your results.
00:02:35 --> 00:02:39 Analyze how effective your advertising strategies are to determine what channels
00:02:39 --> 00:02:43 are most attractive and the most qualified candidates. Down the road,
00:02:43 --> 00:02:46 you may want to trim down where you're going due to budget or just due to time.
00:02:46 --> 00:02:50 And so what ones are being the most effective for you? You're going to want to know that part.
00:02:50 --> 00:02:55 Just think about this. Your job posting is your school's first impression on potential candidates.
00:02:55 --> 00:03:00 We talked about that last time. Make this memorable. Make it inviting.
00:03:00 --> 00:03:04 We want to make sure that what they see out there, that's going to get them
00:03:04 --> 00:03:05 wanting to come and see more.
00:03:06 --> 00:03:09 So it's a good time to review your current job postings. Are they effectively
00:03:09 --> 00:03:13 attracting the right candidates? If not, consider revising them.
00:03:13 --> 00:03:16 Maybe you better showcase your school's unique selling points.
00:03:16 --> 00:03:20 And if you're not getting a lot of candidates, that might be your way to try to deepen your pool.
00:03:21 --> 00:03:24 Thanks for listening to us today. We will be back again tomorrow with some more
00:03:24 --> 00:03:26 tips on this hiring process.
