Welcome to your Morning Boost, your daily leadership advice to help you lead your school community, brought to you by AWB Education and sponsored by Grundmeyer Leader Services. We're together. We are transforming education, one leader at a time. Now here's your host, Adam Bush. Hello and welcome back to your Morning Boost. Happy Tuesday, everybody. I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend. Notice we didn't have an episode yesterday. That was on purpose. Well, we will only have four episodes this week. Want to make sure that you are taking the time that is well deserved that you have certainly earned. So hopefully you took that time and you're back ready again today, a little bit more refreshed and ready for a four day week. Today we are doing our monthly dive into the Fitting five. With only four days this week, we are going to hit four of these articles again. A quick reminder, if you are not already getting this newsletter, just reach out to us here at AWB Education and we will get you signed up for that. It comes out from the Grunmeyer Leader Services is a webpage every single month and it is well worth it. There's a lot of great stuff in there. If you are an aspiring administrator anywhere in the Midwest. I can promise you the jobs that are in that newsletter on a monthly basis are the hot jobs. Grundmeyer Leader Services is fully connected when it comes to getting administrators into a good fit and getting the next position for them. But today we're going to dive into a topic that's all about mindset and action. We're going to be discussing this concept of taking more shots instead of perfecting a few. It's a powerful idea that's explored by PJ. Caposi in his latest article. We will explore what this means for school leaders and how to shift your perspective and how this can lead to greater impact and growth. And the core of today's message is that true leadership isn't about being undefeated. It's about being undeterred. Instead of waiting for the perfect plan or the perfect moment, focus here is on constant action and iteration. I mean think of it this way. Many leaders get stuck in analysis paralysis that endlessly refining an idea before launching it. But as the saying goes done is better than perfect, So try a new initiative, even if it's not fully polished. We can get valuable feedback and make adjustments along the way. For example, instead of spending months on developing a perfect new professional development program, maybe launch a pilot session with a small group of teachers. Their feedback will be invaluable on shaping the final product. Also, encourage your staff to try new things too, and don't fear failure. When a teacher tries a new instructional strategy that doesn't work perfectly, celebrate their effort and the learning that came from it. This psychological safety makes people more willing to innovate and to push boundaries. I mean, the more shots you take, the more you learn. Think of like a basketball player shooting free throws. They don't perfect their shot by standing still. They do it by taking foul of shots, each one providing feedback that helps them get better. Similarly, a leader who tries multiple new communication strategies or implements several small scale changes will develop their skills more quickly than one who tries to perfect a single large scale overhaul. So now let's recap today. We discussed how leadership is about being undeterred, not undefeated, and the importance of taking more shots. Just remember to embrace imperfection for action. Cultivate this culture of risk taking with our teams and understand that repetition and effort are key to improvement. You don't have to be perfect to make a difference. You just have to be willing to try, learn, and try again. As the Great Simon Sinek once said, leadership is not about being in charge. It's about taking care of those in your charge. This means providing supportive environment where your team feels empowered to take those shots alongside you. Thanks for listening, everybody. Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.
