00:00:00 --> 00:00:05 Welcome to Your Morning Boost, your daily leadership advice to help you lead your school community.
00:00:05 --> 00:00:09 Brought to you by AWB Education and sponsored by Grundmeyer Leader Services,
00:00:10 --> 00:00:14 where together we are transforming education, one leader at a time.
00:00:14 --> 00:00:16 Now here's your host, Adam Bush.
00:00:18 --> 00:00:23 Good morning and welcome back to Your Morning Boost. It's Tuesday. Happy April 1st.
00:00:24 --> 00:00:26 Now the month has come and gone in the school year and we are certainly on that
00:00:26 --> 00:00:28 downhill sprint to the finish now.
00:00:29 --> 00:00:32 No April Fool's joke there, that's for sure. Today, we're going to focus on
00:00:32 --> 00:00:36 something that can truly transform our leadership and our lives,
00:00:36 --> 00:00:38 and that is the power of encouragement.
00:00:38 --> 00:00:43 I'm thrilled to share some insights with Dr. Matt Teeter, a leadership and development
00:00:43 --> 00:00:46 expert who really hits the nail on the head in this article.
00:00:46 --> 00:00:49 And by the way, this is one of the featured articles in the Grundmeyer Leader
00:00:49 --> 00:00:52 Service's Fitting 5 newsletter that goes out today.
00:00:52 --> 00:00:56 So if you don't currently get this newsletter, click on the link in the description,
00:00:56 --> 00:00:58 and we'll make sure that we get you hooked up with that.
00:00:58 --> 00:01:01 Also, if you're joining us on YouTube for the first time, thanks for tuning
00:01:01 --> 00:01:03 in as we have a video with our podcast now.
00:01:04 --> 00:01:07 We're going to try to add that piece to our mission here at AWB Education.
00:01:08 --> 00:01:11 But thank you. Wherever you're getting your content, please tune in.
00:01:11 --> 00:01:14 Keep tuning in. If you get a chance to like, subscribe, follow,
00:01:14 --> 00:01:17 and comment, it would really help our show moving forward.
00:01:21 --> 00:01:25 Matt's article, The Power of Encouragement and Leadership, It starts with two very powerful quotes.
00:01:25 --> 00:01:29 First one is, if you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.
00:01:29 --> 00:01:31 That's by Booker T. Washington.
00:01:31 --> 00:01:34 The second quote is, encouragement is like water to the soul.
00:01:34 --> 00:01:38 It makes everything grow. And that quote is by Chris Berkman.
00:01:38 --> 00:01:43 These quotes set the stage for a discussion on how intentional encouragement
00:01:43 --> 00:01:46 can shape the culture of our teams and our schools.
00:01:47 --> 00:01:51 Now, Matt emphasizes that encouragement isn't just about making people feel
00:01:51 --> 00:01:55 good. It's also about driving morale, motivation, and productivity.
00:01:55 --> 00:02:00 It's about fostering a work environment where people feel valued and supported.
00:02:00 --> 00:02:04 And I think, especially in education, that's very crucial. When we lift others
00:02:04 --> 00:02:06 up, we're not just helping them thrive.
00:02:06 --> 00:02:10 We're reinforcing a culture of positivity and resilience.
00:02:14 --> 00:02:19 Here is that he asks us to reflect. he poses some really thought-provoking questions.
00:02:20 --> 00:02:23 How do you typically respond when someone offers you words of encouragement?
00:02:24 --> 00:02:27 I mean, think of a time when encouragement made a difference in your life.
00:02:27 --> 00:02:33 As a leader, how do you ensure your words uplift, inspire, and motivate others?
00:02:33 --> 00:02:37 These questions are a powerful reminder that encouragement isn't just something
00:02:37 --> 00:02:41 we give, it's something we also receive and experience.
00:02:42 --> 00:02:47 When we understand its impact on ourselves, we can better understand its impact on others.
00:02:48 --> 00:02:54 Matt also asks us to consider specific practices we can adopt to be more intentional with our own.
00:03:00 --> 00:03:03 All right, here's your challenge for the week. Connect with your accountability
00:03:03 --> 00:03:05 partner and reflect on these questions.
00:03:06 --> 00:03:11 And most importantly, find one person this week to intentionally encourage,
00:03:11 --> 00:03:15 whether through a note, a conversation, or public recognition,
00:03:16 --> 00:03:19 Matt reminds us that our words have the power to change someone's day,
00:03:20 --> 00:03:22 their mindset, or even their career.
00:03:22 --> 00:03:27 Think about that for a moment. Our words do have that kind of power.
00:03:27 --> 00:03:31 That's a huge responsibility, but also a tremendous opportunity.
00:03:31 --> 00:03:35 And in education, where we're shaping the lives of young people,
00:03:35 --> 00:03:36 that power is amplified.
00:03:37 --> 00:03:41 So as we go to our day, let's take Matt's advice to heart. Let's be intentional
00:03:41 --> 00:03:42 with our encouragement.
00:03:42 --> 00:03:46 Let's lift up our colleagues, our students, and ourselves.
00:03:46 --> 00:03:49 Let's create a ripple effect of positivity and resilience.
00:03:50 --> 00:03:53 Thank you, Dr. Teeter, for this insightful reminder. And thank you,
00:03:53 --> 00:03:57 listeners, for joining me on your Morning Boost. Remember, you are appreciated.
00:03:57 --> 00:04:01 Have a wonderful Tuesday. We'll see you back here again tomorrow for more inspiration.
