00:00:00 --> 00:00:05 Welcome to Your Morning Boost, your daily leadership advice to help you lead your school community.
00:00:05 --> 00:00:09 Brought to you by AWB Education and sponsored by Grundmeyer Leader Services,
00:00:10 --> 00:00:14 where together we are transforming education, one leader at a time.
00:00:14 --> 00:00:18 Now here's your host, Adam Bush. Hey, good morning, everybody.
00:00:18 --> 00:00:22 Welcome back to Your Morning Boost. It is Monday and we are kicking off the
00:00:22 --> 00:00:26 week with a dose of insight and inspiration, just like we do every week.
00:00:26 --> 00:00:28 I'm your host, Adam Bush.
00:00:28 --> 00:00:32 I'm the lead consultant for AWB Education, and today we're going to dive into
00:00:32 --> 00:00:36 a topic that's been in the minds of educators everywhere, and that is navigating
00:00:36 --> 00:00:38 this political uncertainty.
00:00:41 --> 00:00:44 Today, we're going to be talking about an insightful article from Education
00:00:44 --> 00:00:46 Week. It's titled, Opinion.
00:00:46 --> 00:00:50 Education leaders share their ideas for handling political uncertainty.
00:00:50 --> 00:00:54 Now, let's be honest, the political landscape can feel like a roller coaster,
00:00:54 --> 00:00:57 especially for those of us that are in education.
00:00:57 --> 00:01:01 Constant policy shifts, funding changes, public debates, all of these create
00:01:01 --> 00:01:03 a real sense of instability.
00:01:03 --> 00:01:08 And this article brings together the perspectives of several education leaders,
00:01:08 --> 00:01:10 and they've offered some really practical advice.
00:01:11 --> 00:01:15 If you want to read this article, you can catch a copy in the Fitting Five newsletter
00:01:15 --> 00:01:18 from Grinmeyer Leader Services that will actually go out tomorrow.
00:01:18 --> 00:01:23 So if you want to read this for yourself, I invite you to subscribe to the Fitting
00:01:23 --> 00:01:24 5 newsletter if you don't already do so.
00:01:25 --> 00:01:29 And you can get to that newsletter by the link in our podcast description.
00:01:29 --> 00:01:33 Now, one of the key takeaways that really stood out to me was this emphasis
00:01:33 --> 00:01:36 on building strong community relationships.
00:01:36 --> 00:01:40 These leaders stress the importance of open communication with parents and students
00:01:40 --> 00:01:41 and local stakeholders.
00:01:41 --> 00:01:46 And it's about creating a foundation of trust that can withstand these ups and
00:01:46 --> 00:01:47 downs of political change.
00:01:47 --> 00:01:52 When things get turbulent, having those established relationships can be a real lifeline.
00:01:55 --> 00:01:59 Now, another crucial point they make is about focusing on what's within our control.
00:01:59 --> 00:02:03 We can't always predict or change political decisions, but we certainly can
00:02:03 --> 00:02:07 control what happens within our classrooms and within our schools.
00:02:07 --> 00:02:12 They suggest focusing on strong instructional practices, ensuring equitable
00:02:12 --> 00:02:15 access to resources, and prioritizing student well-being.
00:02:16 --> 00:02:20 This is about staying grounded in our core mission, no matter what's happening outside.
00:02:21 --> 00:02:25 Now, I really appreciated the emphasis on advocacy.
00:02:25 --> 00:02:29 The leaders were suggesting that we don't just sit back and accept whatever comes our way.
00:02:30 --> 00:02:34 They encouraged educators to be active participants in the political process.
00:02:34 --> 00:02:37 They encouraged us to advocate for their students and our schools.
00:02:37 --> 00:02:42 This could mean engaging with local representatives, joining professional organizations,
00:02:42 --> 00:02:47 or even just having conversations with community members about this importance of education.
00:02:50 --> 00:02:53 I encourage you to check out this article on Ed Week. It's a valuable resource
00:02:53 --> 00:02:55 for anyone that's in education.
00:02:55 --> 00:02:59 As we head into our week, let's remember the power of community,
00:02:59 --> 00:03:04 the importance of focusing on what we can control, and the necessity of advocating for our students.
00:03:06 --> 00:03:09 That's it for today's Morning Boost. It's a short episode today,
00:03:09 --> 00:03:11 as there really isn't a whole lot to say here.
00:03:11 --> 00:03:15 If we want positive change, we're going to have to be willing to do something about it.
00:03:15 --> 00:03:19 Remember, we are not just educators, we are leaders. We are shaping the future
00:03:19 --> 00:03:22 and together we can navigate any challenge that comes our way.
00:03:23 --> 00:03:26 Have a fantastic Monday. I will see you back here again tomorrow for another
00:03:26 --> 00:03:29 dose of inspiration from AWB Education.
