00:00:00 --> 00:00:05 Welcome to Your Morning Boost, your daily leadership advice to help you lead your school community.
00:00:05 --> 00:00:09 Brought to you by AWB Education and sponsored by Grundmeyer Leader Services,
00:00:10 --> 00:00:14 where together we are transforming education, one leader at a time.
00:00:14 --> 00:00:16 Now here's your host, Adam Bush.
00:00:17 --> 00:00:21 Good morning, dedicated school leaders. Welcome back to a new week of Your Morning Boost.
00:00:22 --> 00:00:27 As the academic year gracefully approaches its conclusion, our focus today is
00:00:27 --> 00:00:31 squarely on providing robust support for our incredible teachers as they navigate
00:00:31 --> 00:00:33 their end-of-year goals.
00:00:37 --> 00:00:41 This period is often characterized by a flurry of assessments and grading,
00:00:41 --> 00:00:46 report writing, and also the emotional weight of saying goodbye to their students.
00:00:46 --> 00:00:52 Our proactive and thoughtful support can significantly alleviate stress and
00:00:52 --> 00:00:57 empower our teachers to finish the year strong and feel appreciated for their tireless efforts.
00:00:57 --> 00:01:01 Now, it does take some intentional planning to make this portion of our work
00:01:01 --> 00:01:04 valuable, instead of just being a checkbox.
00:01:04 --> 00:01:08 It may be worth considering dedicating a significant portion of an upcoming
00:01:08 --> 00:01:12 staff meeting to some collaborative work sessions focused on end-of-year tasks.
00:01:13 --> 00:01:17 I've seen this done before, where people have facilitated opportunities for
00:01:17 --> 00:01:21 teachers within like the same grade level or subject area to share best practices
00:01:21 --> 00:01:24 for final assessments or effective
00:01:24 --> 00:01:27 grading strategies and creative ways to wrap up their curriculum.
00:01:28 --> 00:01:32 Encouraging them to share resources that they found particularly helpful is
00:01:32 --> 00:01:34 also going to help strengthen this collaboration effort.
00:01:35 --> 00:01:39 You might even consider setting up a teacher support hub, maybe a shared online
00:01:39 --> 00:01:43 space where your teachers can post questions, share resources,
00:01:43 --> 00:01:45 and offer encouragement to one another.
00:01:45 --> 00:01:49 Furthermore, think about providing targeted professional development or even
00:01:49 --> 00:01:52 mini-workshops focused on specific end-of-year needs.
00:01:52 --> 00:01:57 This could include sessions on effective strategies for summarizing student
00:01:57 --> 00:02:01 learning or utilizing data to inform future instruction, or even,
00:02:01 --> 00:02:05 honestly, just some self-care techniques to manage the increased workload.
00:02:05 --> 00:02:10 Remember the powerful words of John Hattie, who stated in his extensive research,
00:02:10 --> 00:02:14 collaboration allows teachers to build on each other's strengths and expertise.
00:02:15 --> 00:02:18 This leads to more effective teaching and better student outcomes.
00:02:19 --> 00:02:23 Now, beyond structured support, individual check-ins can also be incredibly valuable.
00:02:23 --> 00:02:27 Take the time to have brief conversations with your teachers. Ask how they're doing.
00:02:28 --> 00:02:31 Ask if there's anything specific that you can do to assist them.
00:02:31 --> 00:02:35 Sometimes simply knowing that their efforts are seen and appreciated can be
00:02:35 --> 00:02:37 a significant morale booster.
00:02:37 --> 00:02:42 Offer practical support, such as providing extra administrative assistance with
00:02:42 --> 00:02:45 tasks like photocopying or organizing materials.
00:02:45 --> 00:02:49 Maybe even consider a small gesture of appreciation like a catered lunch if
00:02:49 --> 00:02:53 your budget allows or a thank you note acknowledging their dedication throughout the year.
00:02:57 --> 00:03:00 By prioritizing their well-being and providing tangible support,
00:03:00 --> 00:03:05 we not only help them achieve their end-of-year goals, but we also foster a
00:03:05 --> 00:03:09 positive and supportive school culture that will resonate long after the final bell rings.
00:03:10 --> 00:03:14 Let's make these final weeks a testament to our commitment to our amazing educators.
00:03:15 --> 00:03:19 That's your Morning Boost for Monday. Have a great week. Thank you for listening.
00:03:20 --> 00:03:21 We will talk with you again tomorrow.
