Thanks for taking the time to listen today. I'm excited a little bit to talk about today's topic as it it always fills my bucket to see students shine in the areas of leadership within the school. We spend so much time dealing with negative behaviors that when we see leadership examples, we need to take a moment to let it soak in. Now, you may have a program at your school or your districts, such as a Leader in Me or a Capturing Kids Hearts MVP. There's lots of programs and examples out there to follow, and all of these programs they're robust. They offer structures and routines that develop student leadership. But we can also get some quick wins very easily that don't take the time and effort of a major program. Implementation. Many times, this is simply giving our students the opportunity to do something empower them if you will, to get involved in their school. If you have an opportunity for older students to connect with younger students, this natural mentorship opportunity will pay off in the long run. It could simply be as easy as reading to younger students. Or try to put technology at use and have some high school students jump on a zoom with an elementary classroom regularly. Or when a student produces something that's just right on point, encourage teachers to have the students show their neighbor colleague and have them do the same for you. Give that student the opportunity to showcase their work to somebody that they don't see every day. We know how powerful displaying student work has the overall atmosphere of learning. You can really take it a small but important step further at times to make it even more impactful. Maybe have the student stop in your office to quickly call their parent or guardian to let them know in that moment how awesome they just were in class or in the hallway, or describe to them something they learned that you know, maybe something they just showcased for their class. That small positive phone call will go miles down the road of a school family connection. A few minutes are worth it. The point is, don't be afraid to be creative. All of these simple, quick and cheap, if not free, ways to encourage students to demonstrate to others how to achieve excellence having a positive impact on the work of the school. That's what we want our leaders to do. Anyway, this has been your Morning Boost, brought to you by AWB Education.
