00:00:00 --> 00:00:05 Welcome to Your Morning Boost, your daily leadership advice to help you lead your school community.
00:00:05 --> 00:00:09 Brought to you by AWB Education and sponsored by Grundmeyer Leader Services,
00:00:10 --> 00:00:14 where together we are transforming education, one leader at a time.
00:00:14 --> 00:00:20 Now here's your host, Adam Bush. Good morning and a revitalizing Wellness Wednesday
00:00:20 --> 00:00:24 to all of you dedicated school leaders. Thanks for listening to Your Morning Boost today.
00:00:24 --> 00:00:28 In our unwavering commitment to the well-being of our students and staff,
00:00:28 --> 00:00:32 it is absolutely essential that we also prioritize our own health and wellness,
00:00:32 --> 00:00:38 even amidst this often demanding and time-constrained school day that we all witness every day.
00:00:41 --> 00:00:46 Now, the notion of consistently meeting our dietary and exercise goals while
00:00:46 --> 00:00:49 navigating the daily responsibilities of school leadership, that might initially
00:00:49 --> 00:00:53 seem like an insurmountable challenge or even a joke to some of us.
00:00:53 --> 00:00:58 However, with a thoughtful approach to planning and really a conscious commitment
00:00:58 --> 00:01:03 to intentionality, it is undoubtedly achievable and it's profoundly beneficial
00:01:03 --> 00:01:06 for our sustained energy focus and our overall well-being.
00:01:07 --> 00:01:11 To do so, begin by strategically planning and packing nutritious snacks.
00:01:11 --> 00:01:14 Think about fruits, vegetables, nuts, yogurt, balanced lunches,
00:01:15 --> 00:01:19 anything that's going to help avoid the temptation of a less healthy and readily available option.
00:01:20 --> 00:01:24 Make carrying a reusable water bottle just a non-negotiable habit,
00:01:24 --> 00:01:28 and consciously make an effort to hydrate consistently throughout the day.
00:01:28 --> 00:01:33 A lot of people forget that the hydration part might be just as important as
00:01:33 --> 00:01:36 the nutrition part when it comes to an overall healthy well-being.
00:01:36 --> 00:01:40 As the esteemed Mayo Clinic underscores the fundamental importance of regular
00:01:40 --> 00:01:45 hydration for optimal bodily function, they state that water is essential for
00:01:45 --> 00:01:47 good health and we need to make it a priority.
00:01:47 --> 00:01:51 Now, the next part is to actively seek out opportunities to seamlessly integrate
00:01:51 --> 00:01:54 physical activity into your daily routine at school.
00:01:54 --> 00:01:56 Opt for the stairs instead of the elevator.
00:01:57 --> 00:02:00 Conduct phone calls while walking around your office or the school grounds.
00:02:00 --> 00:02:04 Maybe even intentionally schedule short, energizing movement breaks between
00:02:04 --> 00:02:06 meetings and administrative tasks.
00:02:06 --> 00:02:09 If your school facilities include a gym or even just an open space,
00:02:10 --> 00:02:14 consider taking a brisk walk during your lunch break or before or after the school day.
00:02:14 --> 00:02:18 Even some short bursts of physical activity can make a significantly positive
00:02:18 --> 00:02:22 impact on your physical and your mental energy levels.
00:02:22 --> 00:02:26 Also consider fostering a culture of wellness within your school community.
00:02:26 --> 00:02:30 Maybe actively collaborate with your staff to promote healthy habits.
00:02:30 --> 00:02:34 Perhaps you could organize a staff walking group during lunch and share healthy
00:02:34 --> 00:02:38 and easy recipe ideas in the staff newsletter, or even explore opportunities
00:02:38 --> 00:02:42 for brief mindfulness or stretching sessions during your staff meetings.
00:02:42 --> 00:02:46 Your own commitment to prioritizing your dietary and exercise goals serves as
00:02:46 --> 00:02:51 a powerful example, and you can inspire your staff to prioritize their own well-being, too.
00:02:51 --> 00:02:56 Remember that even seemingly small and consistent efforts, when integrated into
00:02:56 --> 00:03:00 a daily routine, these accumulate and lead to substantial improvements in our
00:03:00 --> 00:03:05 overall health and sustained energy levels, and will even enhance our ability to lead effectively.
00:03:05 --> 00:03:09 Just making these conscious and proactive choices regarding our nutrition and
00:03:09 --> 00:03:12 intentionally incorporating physical activity into our day,
00:03:12 --> 00:03:16 it's not only going to reap significant personal benefits, but it's also going
00:03:16 --> 00:03:19 to model healthy and sustainable habits for our entire school community,
00:03:19 --> 00:03:24 which in the end will contribute to a more positive and health-conscious environment for everybody.
00:03:28 --> 00:03:31 Thanks for joining us on your Morning Boost for this Crucial Wellness Wednesday
00:03:31 --> 00:03:35 segment. I encourage you to take a moment today to reflect on some small,
00:03:35 --> 00:03:39 actionable steps that you can take to prioritize your own dietary and exercise
00:03:39 --> 00:03:41 goals amidst your busy schedule.
00:03:41 --> 00:03:46 Have a healthy, energized, and fulfilling rest of your day. Thanks for listening.
